Made in Britain

Let's spill the beans on United Kingdom!

Hello!!

As you know we're in the British Week learning a lot of things about England and its culture. These days we're going to be perfectly British so we're going to devote part of our classes to learn everything about this interesting country.

This post will help you to keep learning about the United Kingdom. So, check these links:

Learn all about United Kingdom through this Enciclopedia Británica

Listen to this video to learn about: Common British English Expressions

English Writer: Beatrix Potter

Some tips to get the British accent

Now, what can you do? I'd like you to help me to generate a big database about England in order to become real experts on the matter.
Some ideas related to England you can share in the comments: recipes, music groups, actors, films, idioms, legends or even you can write your personal experience traveling to England in case you have it!

Are you up for the task? I'm sure you are... unless it's ...

English everywhere

Hi english lovers!!

I  come with a new challenge for you! Are you ready?

Did you notice that english is all over the place? Even in Spain, far away from english speaking countries, english is present everywhere. More and more we are starting to mix spanish with a lot of english words, check this worldcloud:

Have you ever used some of the previous words... and do you recognise these things?

Corn flakes: The name of this cereals is in english and literally it means "copos de trigo".

Burger king: This is easy, is it? "El rey de las hamburguesas"

Hot wheels: These cars are so fast, that their wheels are always on fire so they couldn't have a better name "ruedas calientes"

Spiderman: Super heroes are not very creative when choosing their names, what do you think?"hombre araña"

L.O.L: You use a lot this expression but do you know what it really means? Laughing Out Loud "Riéndome muy alto"

U.2. Music band: It's true that in spanish the name of this group doesn't have a lot of sense, but have you pronounced it in english...It will sound similar to: "you too" "tú también", interesting right?

Now it's your turn, I can't wait to see your examples!!!
Best!
